MICHELANGELO ANTONIONI

30.05 (Wednesday), 20.00
Festival Centre (Tytano), Entrance free

This screening is an event organized by Netia Off Camera Festival in conjunction with Krakow Photomonth.

It is no accident that viewers are being invited to recall and, perhaps, see Michelangelo Antonioni’s cult 1966 film for the first time on the big screen (lead roles played by David Hemmings and Vanessa Redgrave). This is the story of a fashion photographer, David, who accidentally takes a picture of a corpse behind a portrait of a couple kissing in a park; yet it is only a pretext to show the complicated nature of photography and the ideological dangers that this medium brings to the fore. At the same time, it uses cinematic means of expression and narrative techniques to make us aware of the numerous and complex ties between these forms of art. It would therefore seem to be the ideal film to link a film and a photography event. Screened in the raw industrial space of the Tytano Factory, it will also be an installation of sorts, taking on new significance.

Free tickets to the film can be picked up at the Krakow Photomonth Festival Centre.
